We
are a Bangalore-based group that produces and distributes issue-based
documentaries and feature films.
We believe that films
are an important medium of communication that can inspire and unite
people across the world. Films can be used to create and perpetuate
myths or, alternatively, to break myths and reaffirm the struggles
of the marginalized and dispossessed.
Visual Search promotes
films that tell the stories of people's daily struggles against
forces that rob them of the right to live with dignity; stories
that connect human beings to water, earth, forests, indeed, the
entire web of life.
Our films cover a range
of issues: nuclear energy, the privatization of water resources,
struggles against bauxite mining and large dams, violence against
women in India, the great drug and pharmaceutical robberies committed
in the name of medicine, struggles of fisherpeople, the extraordinary
village of Kokkrebellur in southern India where migratory birds
flock...
Our production, America,
America! has been extremely well received. This four-minute
music video cocks a snook at the great American empire and exposes
the American war machine for what it is - global terrorism.
Our new
productions include two
more documentary films: If
It Rains Again and Resisting
Coastal Invasion.
We are also promoting
the Hindi feature film Ek
Alag Mausam, which looks at the grave problem of HIV/AIDS
through the eyes of the community of HIV/AIDS survivors. This film
has been made by KP Sasi who is part of the Visual Search team.
