What This Visualization Shows

I built this because I wanted to know how much my own county has actually warmed over my lifetime, and couldn't find a good interactive tool that answered that at the county level.

Click any county for its full annual temperature history. You can also switch between metrics (max/mean/min/diurnal range/seasonal amplitude) and between a century-spanning trend or a direct period comparison between two years.
One thing that surprised me while building it: some counties show cooling summers but warming winters, which is the sort of complex climate trend that I didn't expect to see before I built this.
Everything is precomputed at build time, so the live site is fully static and makes no runtime calls to NOAA or anywhere else.
